Summary | 0002323: Upgrade from 2.2rc4 to 2.3 Failed with efw-upgrade command | ||||||||
Description | I have the base installation of endian version 2.2rc4 which was a fresh installation (disk wipe). I did a full backup before starting the upgrade. I registered my account on the endian site. I followed the instructions in the email: Welcome to the Endian Community Your email is validated and your account is active Now follow these 5 steps to keep your Endian Firewall Community up to date: 1. Enable SSH access on your firewall 2. Open your favorite SSH terminal and connect to the firewall (On Windows you may use putty) 3. If your Endian Firewall Community is older than version 2.2 please run root@efw-2:~ # rpm -ivh http://updates.endian.org/upgrade.rpm [^] 4. Run the efw-upgrade script root@efw-2:~ # efw-upgrade Please choose the appropriate channel for your environment and hit [ENTER]: 1) Production (stable releases) 2) Development (bleeding edge) 1 Please enter your username and hit [ENTER]: Output from command to upgrade to version 2.2: root@efw:~ # rpm -ivh http://updates.endian.org/upgrade.rpm [^] Retrieving http://updates.endian.org/upgrade.rpm [^] Preparing... ########################################### [100%] package efw-upgrade-2.2.1-0.endian0 is already installed Output from teh efw-upgrade command: root@efw:/usr/local/bin # efw-upgrade Loading cache... Any news on the upgrade as yet? |
(0003654) cmateski (reporter) 2010-01-07 17:26 |
It appears no one has been assigned to work the problem. I am disappointed as this is a very important feature. |
(0003662) aender (reporter) 2010-01-14 17:17 |
Why there is still no update possible from 2.2 to 2.3 ? Also for the enterprise edition there is still no update from 2.2 to 2.3 ! Any release date or reason why this is not available? |

Could you try to run the following command: smart update && smart upgrade --url 2>&1 | grep efw-base If the output looks something like this it should definitely work: community@updates.endian.org/stable/pool/efw-base-2.3.21-1.endian15.noarch.rpm">http://*:community@updates.endian.org/stable/pool/efw-base-2.3.21-1.endian15.noarch.rpm [community@updates.endian.org/stable/pool/efw-base-2.3.21-1.endian15.noarch.rpm" target="_blank">^] Otherwise please post the output... Thanks |

Christian, I did multiple upgrades (efw-upgrade) this morning. The system is upgraded to version 2.4. However, there is one more issue I need assistance with. The upgrade didn't return to the prompt. It just hangs there. The firewall is working, confirmed via the gui. The interesting part is it has been sitting there for over 2 hours without returning the prompt. I tried hitting the return key a couple of times to see if the prompt will come up but it didnt. I am not sure if it is still working. Should I wait it out longer? Should I reboot from the gui? My concern is I may interupt/cancel something important that is running. Please advise. I will upload the detailed logs from this mornings upgrade just in case there is anything of value that can help you.
